The search for a man feared missing overboard from a yacht near Arran resumed at first light today. Clyde Coastguard has been coordinating the search since yesterday afternoon. The yacht Cena was found by a fishing vessel yesterday about 2 miles north of Arran with no one aboard. Following the search yesterday, the search recommenced this morning.

After delays due to bad weather, the operation to remove 54,304 tonnes of Vacuum Gas Oil from the merchant vessel Genmar Companion is now scheduled to commence later today (2nd January). The offload tanker BW Seine has now arrived on scene and is anchored close to the Genmar Companion in Belfast Lough.

Plans to remove the cargo of 54,304 tonnes of Vacuum Gas Oil from the merchant vessel Genmar Companion have now been finalised. The transfer will start on 31 December 2011 (weather permitting).

Two crew members of a fishing vessel were recovered by another fishing vessel four miles east of Falmouth this evening after it sank in Gerrans Bay. One crew member is seriously ill and has been transferred to Treliske Hospital in Truro.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) announced today that 13 foreign flagged ships were under detention in UK ports during November 2011 after failing Port State Control (PSC) inspection.
Latest monthly figures show that there were six new detentions of foreign flagged ships in UK ports during November 2011 and seven vessels remained under detention from previous months. The overall rate of detentions compared with inspections carried out over the last twelve months was 3.17% this is slightly up from Octobers twelve month rate.
Out of the detained vessels six were registered with a flag states listed on the Paris MOU white list, four were registered with a flag states on the grey list one was registered with a flag state on the black list and two were unregistered.

At 7.54pm yesterday, Falmouth Coastguard received an alert from an emergency locator beacon in the Atlantic and coordinated the rescue of two rowers from a life raft.
