Mechanical
Yanmar 30hp 3QM 1981 diesel direct cooled originally supplied by Cellar Marine Porthallow (Serial No 83184) and installed by Brian Tankard (Wier Boatyard on the Tamar River) who also fitted the boat out to a high standard. Cruise 6kt, 9kt max. Hydraulic wheel steering. 3 cylinder deisel to Aquadrive shaft & 3 blade prop. Engine has been regularly professionally maintained & is mounted on a steel frame bolted to main longitudinals. A vent fan is fitted. The flexible exhaust is swan fitted at transome, double stainless clipped & sound. Risk of engine damage by ingress of fresh water has been eliminated by the installation of paired inlet fittings on opposite sides of the keel with a Y union in the pipework to the engine. The prop is undamaged & shows no signs of corrosion & turns smoothly. The 2 batteries are good & fitted with isolating switches & fused switch.

Hull construction GRP stiffened by box frames which extend as bulward stanchions in the cockpit area. A wood false keel & stem is fitted with keel iron and skeg extension. Substantial timber bilge keels are also fitted. Bulkheads & partitions are of ply or iroko GRP bonded. The foredeck is teak overlaying ply. Fully enclosed wheelhouse of ply & teak. Cockpit has ply lifting hatches seated on coamings to reduce water intake below deck. There are rear cockpit drains & front ones to bilge+auto-pump. The bulkheads, partitions & bondings are in good condition. The use of hardwood for bearers, floors & longitudinals under the cockpit will give a good service life. Main bulkheads etc. have a series of holes within the bonding zones, so providing superior grip & bonding. The deck is substantial well built & sound with no evidence of water penetration into the structural ply or frame. Gunwales are substantial. Heavy D rubber fendering is sound as is the cockpit sole. There has been minor damage to the front lower corner of wheelhouse now repaired. Steering gear is sound & serviceable. Mooring for rent and tender available if required.
