Hello, what is the maximum speed for this type of hull 8/10 knots if so would more speed be obtained with a bigger propulsion unit.

The standard engine fitted by Blue C Marine is a Yanmar 40 inboard diesel, this will give a maximum 8 knots with a more comfortable sweet cruising speed of 6 knots. Fitting a more powerful engine would only increase speed by a tiny amount probably less than 10%. This is all to do with hull speed which will only be exceeded marginally with the addition of more power. The Trusty is a first class dogged work horse capable of handling a moderate sea chugging away at 6 knots all day long both comfortably and economically, but she doesn`t do speed.
